The X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle mission 3 (OTV-3), the Air Force's unmanned, reusable space plane, landed at Vandenberg Air Force Base at 9:24 a.m. Oct. 17, 2014. WASHINGTON DC, (PRLM).- Misteri drone antariksa X-37B telah membingungkan para ahli militer selama beberapa dekade. Berbagai teori muncul mulai dari pembom ruang angkasa yang siap menyerang, hingga sebagai wahana rahasia untuk misi ‘mengambil’ satelit mata-mata.

Kini, dalam sebuah keterbukaan yang belum pernah terjadi sebelumnya, Departemen Pertahanan AS telah mengungkapkan rincian tentang misi terbaru X-37B, yang dijadwalkan lepas landas pada 20 Mei mendatang.

“[Kami] sedang menyelidiki sistem propulsi eksperimental pada X-37B di Mission 4,” kata Kapten Chris Hoyler, seorang juru bicara Angkatan Udara, mengatakan kepada Space.com yang dikutip Daily Mail, Selasa (28/4/2015).

“Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office juga akan menguji coba sejumlah material dalam X-37B untuk NASA untuk mempelajari daya tahan dari berbagai bahan dalam lingkungan antariksa,” tambah Hoyler. (pikiran-rakyat.com)
